A systematic list of birds species along with their altitudinal distribution observed in the district has been given in Table. Table indicates that out of the total birds observed,18 are summer (breeding) visitors and 40 are resident birds of Himalayan eco-system. In general, the birds like Himalayan Griffon, Ring Dove, slatyheaded Parakeet, bluethroated Barbet, Kashmir Pied, Woodpecker, Black Drongo, Western Yellowbilled Blue Magple, Scarlet Minivet, Whitecheeked Bulbul, Black Bulbul, Simla Streaked Laughing Thrush, Leaf Warbler, Pied Bush Chat, Kashmir Grey Tit and Cinnamon Tree sparrows were more or less commonly observed throughout the district.
